Projects

Fredonia has 3 projects in different exploration’s states inside the Deseado Massif. They are El Dorado – Monserrat (EDM), El Aguila and Petrificados.

The main metallotect at Deseado Massif are the volcanic rocks from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, called Bahia Laura Volcanic Complex. This group comprises the Bajo Pobre Formation (basic to intermediate volcanism) and the more felsic Chon Aike and La Matilde Formations (rhyolitic ignimbrites, dikes, tuffs and epiclastic sediments). Hydrothermal systems are associated to this Complex, producing important epithermal Au-Ag vein deposits. The quartz veins may be brecciated and contain adularia, barite and calcite with sulphides, haematite, limonite, among other. Several textures of quartz occur, as barite-calcite replacement or banded-colloform (multi-episodes infill veins).

This world-class mining district has the most of the great mines of Patagonia: Cerro Vanguardia (AngloGold Ashanti) that has 7.3 M oz Au + 104 M oz Ag, Manantial Espejo (Pan American Silver) with 45.8 M oz Ag and 400 thousand oz of Au, Martha (Coeur Argentina) with 28 M oz Ag, San Jose - Huevos Verdes (Hoschild – Minera Andes) with 700 thousand oz Au and 44.2 M oz Ag, Cerro Negro (Gold Corp) with 3.1 M oz Au and 25 M oz Ag and Cerro Moro (Yamana Resources) with 612,000 oz Au equivalent.
